To be a witness to others’ greatness, especially when those others are dear friends, is such a joy! I am incredibly blessed to know some of the most talented women, who are not just exceptional humans and wonderful friends, but also prolific creators. They find and cultivate beauty everywhere they go. Christina Lopp-Schwabecher, Estuko Nishimura and Kit Nakamura, affectionately referred to as “The Three Buds,” are case and point. Their recent show in Hiro-o showcases each of their unique styles and playful mastery of a variety of art forms from watercolors and etagami to encaustic painting and mokuhanga. If only I had more wall space! 

In a time in history when making art and celebrating beauty are contrary to worldviews of destruction and hate, I am so grateful for the bold creators among us. Thank you, ladies, for sharing your artful visions of the world, inspiring our community and bringing me joy!
